From Kunak to Kuala Lumpur (Part I)

It's been a longgggggggggg silence from me. So many things going on and I can't seem to find a time to sit and write in this blog like before. Anyhow, here I am now and I'm ready to spill d beans about what's buzzing in my life lately. It's gonna be quite a personal entry this time and I hope you readers won't yawn while reading it. Hehehe. :)

First thing first, I'm happy to share my joy with you about my transfer. I finally got a yes! Alhamdulillah, despite d heartbreaking news we received 2 days before d official result came out, miracle happened and my transfer was approved. Actually, my husband's boss helped to call d KPM (since he know someone there, well you know, KPM won't entertain you if you're a "nobody") on 1 Nov, a day before d 28th birthday of my knight in shining armour (hehehe), November 2nd (obviously!),  and he told us that my transfer application was rejected coz my current principal wanted an immediate replacement to fill my position once I'm being transferred. Our heart broke into pieces upon receiving d devastating news and we cried all night. Fortunately, we came into our senses d next day and said to ourselves that we should not give up. We did solat hajat and pray hard and ask Allah to give us a miracle on 3 Nov. At around 8.35pm on 3 Nov, I slowly opened d egtukar website and said "bismillah" in every click. My hands were shaking and my tears began falling once I saw the "TAHNIAH' word popped out! Allahuakbar, I'm speechless!

a very pleasant surprise!

Me and bee (a.k.a my husband : as you all know, he's my bee and I'm his honey! hehehe) were over d moon with this news and we jz can't stop saying "alhamdulillah" up till now. Bee said this his best birthday gift, ever! Awwwwwww! ^_^ Tq Allah for giving us d chance to start our life as "real" husband and wife. We've longed for this moment all d time and finally our prayer was granted. Ya Allah, terima kasih atas nikmatmu ini. Frankly speaking, I have mixed feeling right now, I'm happy and excited to start a fresh new phase in life yet at d same time feels sad and nervous to leave my beloved parents and my dearest close friends here and of course, my hometown, Kunak. It's also nerve-breaking for me to teach at a new school, a school at d heart of d metropolitan city of KL, an all boys school (some more!). Nonetheless, with encouraging words and support from my love, I'm now trying my best to think positive and learn to be grateful of what Allah has given me. I know it will be more challenging to be a female teacher at an all boys school if compared to teaching at my school here now (rural area, laid-back working environment, ordinary school) but I must believe in myself! What's life without challenges, right?

To all of you who read this entry, pls pray for me to do well in SMK (L) Methodist Sentul starting next year.  Goodbye SMK Kunak Jaya. I'll miss you! 2013, treat me well, ya?

#p/s : To those who didn't get their transfer, don't give up! Try everything and pray hard! Mintalah pd Allah, usaha + doa, insyaAllah. Always remember, Allah jualah sebaik-baik "kabel".

Till then peeps, au revoir!

SMKKJ Annual Dinner 2011

Salam.
Waaaaaaaaaaaaa, the holiday finally begins!! Ho ho ho!! I'm so excited!!
Plus I'm going to my hubby's place tomorrow some more!! Yippieeee!!  Hehehe. Smiley Faces

Okay, since I'm such in a good mood today, I'm going to share about my school's annual dinner which was held on the night of 16.11.11 at Hotel Emas, Tawau.

First, let me tell you my overall "review" about the event. Frankly speaking, I'm not satisfied with the services and the way it turned out that night. One reason is because of the small space we got. There were only 6 tables with 10 chairs provided (and we paid for almost 80 staffs). Can you believe it?? If all of our school staffs came that night, then they'll be short of 20 chairs. Luckily, that didn't happened but still, the chairs are not enough. What the heck!

When me, Tipah and our little sis arrived, we need to ask for two extra chairs therefore need to sit in a cramped table of supposedly 10 chairs only (bygkn 12 org duduk 1 table utk 10 org!). It was so not comfortable that night. I didn't have the appetite to eat. Me and my sister didn't even eat the steamboat dishes that we paid for. Huhuhu.

Despite the dissatisfaction, I love the Hoko drinks & puddings so much!! They're sooooooo chocolatey & creamy!! Yummylicious!!!!!!!!! For a chocoholic like me, I give them 5 stars!!!

Orait, what's a dinner without pictures, right? So, here you go ::

Me, Students, Post PMR & Filet-O- Fish? ^^

Salam.
Waaaa, been away from blog for 4 days, rindu! Heeeeee~ ;p
So, what's up with me and life? Well, actually I've been busy with works and our newly started business lately. Almost all of my free time were spent to update stocks, dealing with customers and promoting my hijabs. Sambutan? So far, so good la. Alhamdulillah~ ^_^

Okay, now back to the title of my post. As y'all know, PMR examination was over on 11 October right? So after that day onwards, the form 3 students in my school are involved with various post-PMR programs organized by the school. I'm actually a class teacher for a form 3 class, form 3 Smart (the last class). Last Wednesday, they are asked to cook a complete dish (except dessert) from appetizer, main course and drinks. Soooo, these are their photos and also their "air tangan" ::

FYI, the students in this photo are my most favourite students in 3 Smart coz they are so respectful to teachers and "boleh harap" punya students ba. You know la if last class ni kan. These kind of students are so "rare". ;p

* WARNING : The burger pic below tiada kaitan langsung dgn my entry above! LOL~

Eh? Apasal ada pic McD's Filet-O-Fish burger ni?? Eheeeee, actually, if you want to know, Filet-O-Fish burger is my most favourite of McDonald's burger series. However, here in my hometown, there's no McD outlets, almaklumla, bandar kecik jak kn. Hehe. The nearest McD restaurant is 8 hours drive. Huhu. TAPI TAPI, I got to eat the burger on Wednesday last week after my parents brought it back all the way from KK (40 mins flight). Wohooooo!! Nyam nyam~ ;D

Last Minute Tips for PMR 2011 Candidates!

Salam.
PMR exam will start tomorrow, so to all PMR candidates especially my dear students, best of luck!! May Allah bless you all! My prayers are with you. :)

Also, here are a few tips for you :
  • Read the questions carefully and answer everything. Dont leave your answer blank!
  • What should you do when you are unsure about the answers? ---> You can use guessing and logic explanation.
  • What should you do when you are blank when answering the question? ---> Look at the answers. If the answers are multiple choice answers; choose the highest occurrence. Normally this will work in PMR examination. Only use this when you are totally blank answering the question.

For today (a day before the exam), make sure :
  1. You have the exam slip before you sleep.
  2. You place the exam slip in your bag.
  3. Your IC should be with you all the time.
  4. You should have at least 2 pencils, 2 pens, an eraser and correction tape.
  5. Please bring your calculator. (refer to the schedule, if it's not necessary, then don't bring it!)
  6. Don’t bring any notes to school. You are very much ready for the exam. It is not worth the time to get panic.

As for tomorrow and the whole exam days :
ARRIVE EARLY AND DO NOT CHEAT OR ATTEMPT TO CHEAT IN PMR.

Happy Teacher's Day

Hello peeps! It's 16 May and it's Teacher's Day!!
Some people say it is easy to be a teacher, well, I admit it, I did thought of the same thing too before joining the profession. Now, being a teacher myself, I beg to differ!

Do you read the descriptions in the picture I posted above?
They are absolutely TRUE! Chalk and talk only? NOT anymore!

I've been teaching for almost three years now, since July 2008 (pheww! how time flies!) and I'm still trying my best to love my job. Don't get me the wrong way, not that I'm not grateful to have such a noble occupation, I just can't lie to myself.

Simply put, I don't find joy and happiness in what I'm doing for a living at the moment BUT I promised myself that I will, perhaps someday! Yeah! That's the spirit Teacher Sheila! ^_^

To all my former teachers, fellow teacher friends & to all teachers as well as future teachers nationwide, I wish you Happy Teacher's Day!
Lets touch people's lives y'all! ;p

My report card? Heeeeee~

Language Carnival

Hi y'all!
Recently, the secondary schools in my district have been competing against each other in various competitions for the Language Carnival activity organized by the PPD. Among the competitions were the choral speaking (I've uploaded my students' performance previously here), drama, parliamentary debate, poetic singing, pantun, bahas ala parlimen and pidato diraja.

This afternoon, May 5th, my school hosted the Closing Ceremony so as usual, we did a little bit of cam-whoring during the event. Here's the snapshots (taken from my colleague's facebook) :

Our Choral Speaking Team!

Hello peeps! Have you watched the video I shared above? Any comments?

Well, sadly to say, we didn't win the competition due to a few rules and regulations we failed to obey (I will explain the reasons behind each rules that we broke, they aren't an excuse okay! just so you'll be more clear of the situation we're in since you're not there with us) :

1. The use of blazers with two ribbon lines :
- We actually borrowed the blazers from other schools (primary schools) coz we didn't have enough blazers for all 31 participants of our choral speaking team so the two ribbon lines are actually not our own choice. Moreover, we DIDN'T know that any accessories on the blazer are not allowed for choral speaking competition. This is our first time (for both trainers) training and bringing the students for a competition, we're NEW to the field.

2. The use of corsage on the blazers :
- The reason why we use a corsage and pinned it to the students' blazer is actually coz we want to COVER the other school badge (the school that we borrowed the blazers from). Besides, we have NO IDEA that the use of such accessories are NOT allowed. Poor us.

3. Calling names which is considered sensitive :
- The 'name' I'm referring to is actually an Indian way of calling a boy or a man (Dei Macha!). The funny thing is my trainer partner is actually an Indian lady who explained that the use of Dei Macha! is not a negative thing for the Indian society and has nothing to do with any kind of racism. So, hello! Can this reason be accepted when in fact, even the Indian people did not take perceive it the way the judges do.

4. The singing :
- We thought that the singing part will be our advantage coz we showed some creativity in presenting our choral speaking but unfortunately it worked against us. What's more disappointing is the fact that the organizer DID NOT state anything about this rule. So, how can we know??

As a whole, of course we are disappointed with the result but this does not mean we are giving up. WE'RE NOT! We will take this loss as a lesson to make us better in the future. For me, I'm proud to say that we had put our very best effort for this competition, no regrets. We have gained a valuable experience in the field and I believe in the next competition, we will work harder and prove to everyone that we can win. To SMKKJ's community, especially my sporting friends Miss Latifah Jalilul & Mdm Irmawaty Rapping who came to support us even though they were rushing to go to school today. Thanks a lot Tipah and Kak Irma! Love you guys!

Btw, here are some of the pics I took during the competition :

p/s ; To my HoneyBee© readers, do leave your comments on the video and pictures I uploaded okay? I really want to know what you guys think about my students performance. Thanks y'all.

Spoken from the heart (Part II)

Hi HoneyBee© readers! This is the continuation of my last post : Spoken from the heart (Part 1).

Okay, where should i start.. Mm, after I cried right in front of my students the other day, I noticed almost all of the girls were having teary eyes as they continue practicing while I went to the end corner of the hall to calm and compose myself. I even called a friend of mine to replace me to train the choral speaking for I was so upset by their attitude. Then, after that I talked to the other teacher who was also the trainer and told her my decision to give up training the students. However, after discussing with her, we decided to teach the students a lesson. How? We actually made a deal with each other that I won't be there for every practice from that day onwards (so they will learn their mistakes and regret doing it and won't repeat the same mistake again) but on the day of the competition, I am still going to be the teacher in charge together with her. We've been practicing for almost a week after all, right? All and all, at the end of the Saturday practice, the problematic students came and apologized to me while the girls cried their hearts out and 'pujuk' me to stay. I'm touched juga la at the time, frankly speaking. Awwww! BUT I pura2 jual mahal! So, that's about it. I just hope from now on Allah will grant me with the patience of a saint.

Tomorrow, April 14th is the competition day and despite all the 'drama' that happened, I'm crossing my finger and pray to God that WE'LL WIN! Amin. Chayo2 SMKKJ Choral Speaking Team! Wish us luck, okay? Moshi2..

Next, I will update about whether or not my choral speaking team win. Till then!

Spoken from the heart (Part I)

Hi there everyone! How's your monday?

Tonight I just want to share a recent happening in my life wherein for the very first time after being a teacher for almost 3 years, I burst into tears right in front of my students. Huhu :(

Actually it happened last Saturday when I and a colleague were training the choral speaking team to represent our school in the district level competition this coming Thursday. We've been practicing everyday since last Tuesday coz we are really short in time due to some miscommunication where we thought all the 3 secondary schools in my district are supposed to be using the same choral speaking script when in fact we DON'T have to! Pity us! So we're kinda rushing to do the last minute preparation.

What brought me into tears was actually the attitude of the students. I was disappointed. I've chosen them over another equally eager-to-participate class just because they are my students, I'm teaching them. Unfortunately, they failed to show full commitment during the practice (but not all, there's a few of them who showed admirable effort). They seemed can't decide which to prioritize and which shouldn't. There was even a few of them who were quite rude and that hurt my feelings a lot. It was like they didn't appreciate what me and my fellow teacher friend are doing for them. I was so upset and eventually, I ended up crying in front of the whole team!

What happened next?
I'll continue spilling out the teary story of mine in my next post okay.

Hope you'll patiently wait! Till then peeps!

Au revoir & nity night! ❤
